A Different Kind of Love Song

There are a hundred thousand love songs in the world. And most of them get it wrong. There just aren’t many songs that move beyond physical attraction and simple emotion and speak to the deeper aspects of love—fidelity, faithfulness, selflessness, grace. And I don’t think this is an antiquated notion. Love is, by it’s very nature, intended to be profoundly heartfelt and long-lasting and transcendent. There truly is a different, deeper kind of love—the kind that is patient and kind, selfless and humble, honorable and truthful. The kind that always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Over the last few months, I’ve been working on a collection of love songs that move beyond the shallowness of this world’s definition of love, and into the deeper waters of agape. In fact, over the course of a few months, I’ve had a rush of musical inspiration quite unexpected and astounding. Like I was suddenly ten months pregnant.

So on June 25, I’m officially releasing my sixth solo album (and the first one in nine years). This one is called “Another Kind of Love Song.” Hit the link to hear samples and download the album.

When I began this project, I had several conversations with my wife, Debbie. After all, this album is as much hers as mine—for everything I know about love, I learned with her. The greatest delight of this project has been pulling her into my studio to sit and listen to the latest song or latest mix. I’ve loved watching her smile and beam at each sitting, or reminiscing with her about a particular memory that made it onto a lyric, or just seeing her hum the songs around the house.

Look for “A Different Kind of Love Song” to drop to your favorite streaming service on June 25. And as always, thanks for your support!
