For many years now, me and a few other guys tried to maintain a fellowship of local worship pastors in my area. In the last year, the fellowship has gotten pretty strong, and we have seven local churches represented in our little coffee group of worship guys. We meet to encourage one another, to share ideas and songs, and to just be friends, all in an effort to model the larger Church that we really are. Included in this group are worship leaders from Harbor, Journey, Community Bible, Lakeside, Church of the Foothills, Rancho Murieta Community, and Oak Hills Churches. This was modeled to us by a group of senior pastors in the area who have been meeting regularly for over twenty years together—to pray for and pastor the greater local Church in our area. I strongly believe that this “community of pastors” has been one of the underlying—and largely invisible—strengths of our community throughout the years.
Now, we’d like to extend this fellowship to you as well. In an effort to bring together the people from the churches of the Foothills and Folsom area, several area churches are presenting an evening of worship and prayer on Thursday, May 6, at 7:00 p.m. at Oak Hills Church in Folsom. Coinciding with the National Day of Prayer, the theme of this event is “WE are ONE,” based on Ephesians 4:4-6, 12-13. We’re very excited to be a part of this free event, and we strongly encourage you to be a part of it too!
Please make this a priority. We will gather with the larger Christian community of Folsom and the surrounding foothills. We will declare our commonality in Christ and the glory of our Great God. And we will pray for our families, our community, our world. Be the Church with us on May 6 as we declare that WE are ONE.
